| canon | Legend of Zelda; Twilight Princess
| character name | Link
| character age | 16-18?
| gem | Night Gem
| reason | Truth be told, this incarnation Link would probably be attracted to both Gems due to the nature of his journey. But he ultimately ends up with the Night Gem because of the recent memory of the parting between him and Midna and due to the close connection he has now with a realm that shadows Hyrule. His somewhat distant relationship with Zelda in this era also factors into the slightly weaker call to Day. And let's be fair; twilight is a time when day turns to night and is the time when Link received his call to destiny. Hence being drawn to the Night Gem.inb4 someone rags on the grimdark visuals of the game again
| wings | DA DA DA DAAAAA
| personality | The consummate Hero.
Growing up in a small farming village on the edge of a forest as the few teenagers in the entire village, Link plays an interesting role as the middle man for the children and the adults. If the children were misbehaving, the adults got Link to try and get them to listen. If the children wanted the adults to hear them out, Link would be the one they went to... Or rather, if the children wanted something the adults wouldn't let them have, the young herder was going to be in for a long day. Nonetheless, he doesn't seem to have much of a problem with the little part-time troublemakers and seems quite content being the resident problem solver or go-between for the children and adults.
He cares deeply for the people of the village, as well as for the animals that reside in and around Ordona. Chances are, if you're looking for him, Link will be at the field, looking after the sheep or out performing other duties (like collecting firewood with Rusl). Responsible and kind with the occasional reckless decisions that can be expected from a teenager.
Link's impulsive, often times getting into greater trouble because he wanted to protect loved ones or he wanted to help a friend or just plain didn't think things through. Several times in the game, he ends up being hurt or injured because he jumped headlong into danger, such as when he tried to attack Zant after exiting the Lakebed Temple. Not the smartest move by far but he meant well. He's very straightforward, and while he isn't in the dark about everything pertaining to the world, but there's a great deal that he's missed due to having grown up in a bordering province with very little outside exposure. Certainly, if you try to bring up anything technologically advanced, you'll definitely leave Link in the proverbial dark.
He's a fast learner though, and a willing student. It's just a matter of catching his attention.
... I don't need to go on about his courage, do I? He is the bearer of the Triforce of Courage for a reason and it isn't just destiny.
| background | Courtesy of the wiki but I have a written history if you want it.don't know why you would though
| timeline | At the end of the game, after the credits scene where Ilia watches Link ride away on Epona in search of new adventures! ... or a way to reunite with a friend, as is the way in the Child Timeline.Navi why
| abilities | He's physically strong from wrestling sheep back in Ordon and later, from fighting actual monsters. Link also has courage to spare, not letting himself be startled or scared easily. Indeed, there are few times in the game where he's genuinely afraid. Surprised, worried, but never truly afraid. Along with that courage is quite a bit of skill with various weapons, including those that he has probably never used prior to that. Reincarnation does that I guess.
In terms of abilities, Link is primarily a swordsman. While most of his techniques are self taught or very rudimentary, he has several advanced skills he's learned from the Hero's Shade.
With both Midna and the threat of Ganondorf gone, Link no longer has the Twilight Crystal that lets him transform into a beast nor does he carry the Master Sword.

[the amber shines briefly before revealing Link's face. He seems a little confused - as if unsure whether the image is working or not - before it suddenly shifts (sorry to anyone with motion sickness) to film some of the fireflies floating about. For someone unused to using a camera, his arm's surprisingly steady]
... They're a bit too big to fit in a bottle. [ssssssh this is a perfectly ordinary train of thought]
[the amber is turned to face Link again and now that the camera's not moving so dramatically it's pretty clear that the young man is standing at the entrance of the tree. For having been dragged here so abruptly, he seems surprisingly chipper about everything.
Or, well, almost everything]
Do you think we'll be able to ask for soup? [he looks a little sheepish] The nuts and berries are nice, but... [sometimes, one craves a hot meal, preferably with bread, cheese and soup]

To be quite honest, Link was almost a little too accustomed to waking up in strange places with very little warning before hand. He liked the little flash of light before the sudden change in landscape. It was a (weirdly) familiar sight before he was thrust headfirst into yet another unknown scenario. The Ordonian halfway expected Midna to pop up and start berating him as he turned to look at his shadow... And stopped when he realized how silly that was.
With the childish hope temporarily put on hold, Link took the opportunity to look at his surrounding properly. And his current surroundings looked like... The inside of a tree? That's a little strange; he was nowhere near the Faron Province when he ran into that sudden glimmer of light. Why would he be in a tree like this? So many questions for our young hero and seemingly no apparent answers.
...
No point in standing around idly waiting for a Light Spirit to appear, he supposed. Link stepped forward to take a look at the runestone - a stone that isn't covered in Hylian script or even Twili designs from what he can see) - only to frown at the message on it. A new adventure? Still, the pack looked important even if it wasn't inside a chest. Best to take it for the time being. He'll just return the items if it turns out that it does belong to someone else. Once the pack is slung over one shoulder, the hero looked around once more-- Oh.
Well, if he wasn't wondering where the Spirit of Light was before he certainly was now.
The giant pillar of light at the centre of the tree certainly reminded him of the room at the very back of the Forest Temple in Faron Woods. It's beautiful and calming to look at, reassuring in how familiar Link was with the forest and trees and-- And he's getting distracted (Link could almost hear Midna scolding him for having his head in the clouds). As he looked past the light, his attention is drawn to the gems seated just to the sides of the light. A yellow one that made him think of the Spirits and a dark blue one... Not quite the same colour as the Shadow Crystal that had cursed him before (thankfully) but somehow reminiscent of it all the same. Perhaps if the Sol were a dark blue rather than the pale, pale light that it was. If experience has taught him anything, it was that touching strange gemstones - strange artifacts - was wont to yield unfortunate outcomes.
Yet he couldn't help but be drawn to the gems. Something about the gems, about everything here, made him feel strangely homesick. He found himself missing his hometown and wondering how Midna was faring back in the Twilight Realm. Strange... This place seemed like it may very well be a part of Hyrule (such large trees were hardly a rare sight in the kingdom) but there were little things off. The moss, the leaves and other things seemed out of place and Link couldn't quite place why.
And honestly? He really shouldn't be touching something that he clearly does not recognize (Gods know he's already had a hard enough time with things that he was familiar with) but the dark blue gem made him think of all those dark places that he's passed through on his journey to save Hyrule; dark places that would try the courage of any man, filled in equal parts with danger and, if one looked for it, gentleness from it's inhabitants. Faron Woods, Death Mountain, Zora's Domain, the Sacred Grove... And the Twilight Realm. All of these places were important to him, full of (strange) enemies that he's fought and (peculiar) friends that he's made. Without much attention, Link had reached for the dark blue gemstone but jumped back when a piece of it fell off and into his hand.
It takes a few seconds more of inspecting the jewel before he realized that there was something tickling his neck.
Another moment passed before he realized that the 'seomthing' that was tickling his neck happened to be fur not that was oddly similar to his pelt when he was a wolf. Which was odd.
Until he looked over his shoulder at the fur only to realize that no. That fur was the least of his worries. Especially when it appeared that there were wings on his back that were not there seconds before.
Honestly, Link was a little too accustomed to very strange things happening to him out of the blue. For what other reason would a young boy - more accustomed to being shot out of cannons than proper flight - be so unperturbed by the sudden appearance of moth wings on his back? At least he wasn't changed into a bug!Gods help him if Agitha saw him like this.

In terms of abilities, Link is primarily a swordsman. While most of his techniques are self taught or very rudimentary, he has several advanced skills he's learned from the Hero's Shade.
- the Finishing Blow. When the enemy is dazed and on the ground, Link jumps up and impales them with his sword. This is a one hit kill on minor foes, but requires them to be downed first.
- Shield attack. Link uses his shield to attack in a battering move that stuns his opponents, leaving them open for a follow-up attack. Can be used to deflect projectiles.
- Back Slash. Rolling behind the target, Link then rise in a counter attack that knocks down most opponents.
- Helm Splitter. Following up the shield attack, Link jumps over the enemy, slashing at their head in the process.
- Motal Draw. Instant KO (save for those wearing armor), but at the cost of Link being unarmed until the last second. If the monster has faster reflexes than Link, he's dead.
- Jump strike. A move that's very good for clearing a group. Charging up energy, Link lunges at his enemies and slams the ground, creating a small shockwave to knock back his opponents.
- Great Spin Attack. A stronger version of his standard spin attack. Usable only when he's at full health
With both Midna and the threat of Ganondorf gone, Link no longer has the Twilight Crystal that lets him transform into a beast nor does he carry the Master Sword.
